Houston: Where Global change Happens
WorldPride 2023 in Houston would be an international celebration of diverse backgrounds and cultures– a rich tapestry that is the global LGBTQIA+ community and is mirrored in our own community here in Houston. Events surrounding WorldPride would range from lavish parties in Montrose (the historic “gayborhood”), to cultural and art exhibitions in Chinatown and the International District. A full month of events, speaking engagements, exhibits and parties– something for everyone in the community! We are excited at the prospect of being able to show our city in a light some may not have seen before: as a cosmopolitan, cultural, diverse, and accepting metropolis. A city of the future that would be the perfect backdrop for WorldPride 2023. After all, the world is already here to welcome you.
Come To Houston. See The World. Feel Your Pride.
One day just won’t do! We plan for a month long celebration that takes Pride out of just central downtown. We plan to engage the entire Metropolitan area of Houston by having Pride activations in the various neighborhoods as well as in Houston’s historic gayborhood, Montrose.
Hosted at the luxurious BBVA Compass Stadium (capacity 25K) located East of Downtown Houston, Pride Houston will feature a spectacular Welcome Ceremony. Expect friends of Pride from all over the nation to attend, including local, regional, national and political dignitaries.
Pride Festival & Parade Celebration
Houston’s Pride Festival will explode into a multi-site conglomeration of diverse booths with a multitude of information and fun activities for all. Various stages scattered throughout downtown Houston will include entertainment and concerts that will feature and reflect the same cultural and expressive identity that is seen in Houston. People of all walks of life will gather in the streets and squares of Downtown Houston for the Parade celebration. Marching bands, floats and marchers will cross the city during a parade that will embody our city’s heritage while looking towards the future.
World Pride 2023 Opening / Closing Ceremony
We plan to have electrifying performances from A-list talent in a benefit-style concert. The night will be filled with love, acceptance, and a celebration of all identities, and will be broadcast on TV and radio stations and is sure to make a mark on history.
It is anticipated that there will be numerous speakers as well as performers and is expected to be a capacity crowd. Capping off the Closing Ceremony will be a large procession of the Rainbow Guard carrying the flags of every identity in the LGBTQ+ community while the Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul band plays.
