Pride Houston and COVID-19 Safety Preparedness     >>

Pride Houston understands there is much concern, and that we all have a responsibility to help slow the spread of  Covid-19 in our city.  Therefore, all in-person pride events for the year, including the Celebration and Parade, are cancelled. We must take the best course of action for the city we love, and the LGBTQ+ community. At this time, that means staying apart. Please stay tuned for news and updates about upcoming virtual events.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay hopeful! We can get through anything as a community if we take care of each other now.

Tiffany “Tip” Phillips

“Tip” Philips was born in St. Thomas, USVI and made her way to the states at age 5 by way of her stepfather’s military career. The family would land in Fayetteville, North Carolina where Tip would complete most of her education. While working on her bachelor’s in biology, Tip would experience all the challenges of not only being a minority female in a rural town, but one of only a handful of LGBT students on campus.

Tip remembers her first Pride experience in Charlotte, North Carolina and the sense of belonging that overcame her celebrating with others who looked like her. She enjoys working with Pride Houston because it allows her to help foster an environment of inclusion and celebration. Her sincere hope is that others can feel that same breath of life she experienced at her first Pride.
