Lo Roberts considers herself a proud Houstonian, and was honored to accept the role of Pride Houston president in 2017, as well as all of the responsibility it entails. She serves as Pride Houston’s first woman of color to hold this title. Lo began volunteering with Pride nine seasons ago and has served on different production committees and in various leadership positions including Parade Committee co-chair, Volunteer Committee chair, special events director, member-at-large and Vice President on the Board of Directors.
She sees Houston’s diversity and its unique blend of cultures as an incredible resource and advantage, and would like to see that diversity emphasized in Pride and the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the city and world.
Growing up Lo always knew she wanted to help others. She had a love for medicine and at a young age started serving as officers in other professional organizations such as HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and NAP (National Association of Parliamentarians) on the National Levels.
One of her favorite quotes is, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” With this as her daily mantra Lo not only fights for change here locally through policy and reform; however, she also serves on the board of Pride’s International and National organizations (Interpride and United States Association of Prides).
Nurse Lo, as her tiny patients call her, is a pediatric nurse and Health Specialist for a non-profit organization. When she is not tending to the health of other children she enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking, and crafting.
