Jose is a native Houstonian and a graduate from the University of Houston. He currently works in finance for an American multinational finance and insurance corporation. Before joining Pride Houston as Co Chair, he was a volunteer for four years throughout the organization. Outside of his career and Pride Houston, he serves as Director of Operations for Young Catholic Professionals Houston Chapter, Assistant Captain for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Tejano Committee and volunteers for numerous committees with Rodeo.
When Jose has free time, he enjoys that special time with his 2 nephews and his family.
Jose remembers his first pride was Pride Houston 2010 in the heart of Montrose; his best friend from college was in town for the summer and both decided since they were “out” to each other that they should go and experience their very first Pride. Both being nervous to step out of their comfort zones turned to an unforgettable experience which created new friendships and a tradition for years to come. A day to celebrate who you are freely, without judgment, along with other members of the Houston LGBTQ community. This is why Jose is excited to be part of the Pride Houston family, to create a celebration where everyone can come out, feel safe, and comfortable to celebrate who they really are.
